Scene from Breaking Bad. motorhomes in the movies

Motorhomes in the Movies

Posted on: Tuesday 17th of July 2018

All 48 of the motorhomes on our hire fleet come complete with a TV & DVD player as standard that will run off the vehicle’s leisure battery. This means that no matter where you’ve decided yo pitch up for the night you’ll be able to relax and enjoy the best in silverscreen entertainment.

Motorhomes, campervans, and RVs have featured prominently in the movies over the last 40 years, often taking on cult status and becoming key ‘characters’ to the plot themselves. Here are some of the best for you to watch next time you’re on a road trip of your own!

BREAKING BAD (2008-13)

scene from breaking bad with bryan cranston. motorhomes in the movies

Creator: Vince Gilligan

A high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer turns to manufacturing and selling crystal meth in order to secure his family’s future.

This critically acclaimed series was the perfect vehicle to display Bryan Cranston’s undoubted talent. 5 incredible seasons that you’d do well to fit into your time away. Just please don’t get any ideas!

LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE (2006)

scene from little miss sunshine chasing the campervan. motorhomes in the movies

Dir. Valerie Faris

A family determined to get their young daughter into the finals of a beauty pageant take a cross-country trip in their VW campervan.

A thoroughly entertaining couple of hours that is dark, funny, touching, and will no doubt charm the pants off you. You’ll be pleased to hear that all our vehicles come complete with breakdown cover, and would never expect you to push start, run after, and jump into your motorhome!

SPACEBALLS (1987)

scene from spaceballs. motorhomes in the movies

Dir. Mel Brooks

Planet Spaceballs’ President Skroob sends Lord Dark Helmet to steal planet Druidia’s abundant supply of fresh air to replenish their own, and only Lone Starr can stop them.

More than 30 years have passed and still no one has done a better sci-fi spoof. Unfortunately, when renting your own Eagle-5 we can’t also supply you with a canine navigator. Just your standard Garmin sat-nav I’m afraid, available as an optional extra

THE WALKING DEAD (2010-)

scene from the walking dead. motorhomes in the movies

Creator: Frank Darabont

Sheriff Deputy Rick Grimes wakes up from a coma to learn the world is in ruins, and must lead a group of survivors to stay alive.

Heart-pounding thrill ride that, if you haven’t already watched, you may want to catch upon your return, as unfortunately, none of our motorhomes have roof access, so you would be left vulnerable to zombie attack. Sorry.

ANCHORMAN 2 (2013)

scene from anchorman 2 with Will Ferrell. Motorhomes in the movies

Dir. Adam McKay

With the 1970s behind him, Dan Diego’s top-rated newsman, Ron Burgundy, returns to take New York City’s first twenty-four-hour news channel by storm.

The ‘Legend Continues’ in this follow up to the now cult classic, with more madcap mayhem from the Channel 4 News Team. When hiring one of our vehicles please don’t make the same mistake that Ron does. Cruise control just regulates speed, it doesn’t steer!

PEPPA PIG (2004-)

scene from peppa pig in their campervan. motorhomes in the movies

Creator: Neville Astley

A little pig named Peppa, and her brother George, have journeys everyday with their family and friends.

Not something I’d recommend if you don’t have kids, to be honest. If you do have kids them I’m sure you are already well aware of it’s magical properties for delivering 5 minutes of peace when you most need it!

ABOUT SCHMIDT (2002)

Schmidt-TV1

Dir. Alexander Payne

A man upon retirement embarks on a journey to his estranged daughter’s wedding only to discover more about himself and life than he ever expected.

Starring the ever brilliant Jack Nicholson, I promise this film isn’t as bleak as it sounds. In fact, we actively encourage all our customers to discover something about themselves and tell us all about it upon their return, and we’ll put it on Facebook!

PAUL (2011)

Paul-TVDir. Greg Mottola

Two British comic-book geeks traveling across the US encounter an alien outside Area 51.

Classic Pegg & Frost, this is a very pleasant way to spend an evening or afternoon. Please remember, if you are planning on picking up an alien during your trip, we do have a number of vehicles on our fleet reserved as pet-friendly.

RACE WITH THE DEVIL (1975)

Race-TV

Dir. Jack Starrett

Two couples holidaying together in an R.V. from Texas to Colorado are terrorised after they witness a muder during a Satanic ritual.

A great choice of film to watch on your first night away. If you’re ever in the situation where you’re racing away from someone at speed, please remember to make sure all roof vents are shut and your TV aerial has been stowed away

STRIPES (1981)

Stripes-TV

Dir. Ivan Reitman

Two friends who are dissatisfied with their jobs decide to join the army for a bit of fun.

Bill Murray at his peak. A must watch, at anytime! Please remember, though the EM-50 Urban Assault Vehicle featured in this film may be fully equipped to bash through the Czech border, our LandCruise Motorhomes are not.

WE’RE THE MILLERS (2013)

Millers-TV

Dir. Rawson Marshall Thurber

A veteran pot dealer creates a fake family as part of his plan to move a huge shipment of weed into the U.S. from Mexico.

A nice, easy, and enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours, but please don’t get any ideas, as although our fleet of motorhomes contain plentiful storage for such a task, drug smuggling does tend to be frowned upon in most, if not all, EU countries, and we can not condone it.

WINNEBAGO MAN (2009)

Winnebago-TV

Dir. Ben Steinbauer

Jack Rebney is the most famous man you’ve never heard of – after cursing his way through a Winnebago sales video, Rebney’s outrageously funny outtakes became an underground sensation and made him an internet superstar. Filmmaker Ben Steinbauer journeys to the top of a mountain to find the recluse who unwittingly became the “Winnebago Man.”

Have a gander at the original outtakes that kickstarted this whole project. WARNING – contains a LOT of swearing!

Happy viewing!
