Getting into town: The Newbridge Park and Ride is just across the road. Buses run every 15 minutes and take about 5 minutes.

Nicknamed London-by-the Sea, Brighton has a mixture of heritage, culture and cosmopolitan fun. You can simply enjoy the sunshine on the beach or you can explore the Lanes, the Royal Pavilion, and the Pier.

Getting into town: Take the bus into Brighton or the Volks historic railway along the promenade to Brighton Marina.

Visit Britain names Bristol “the city of bridges, balloons, boats, Brunel and Banksy”. The redevelopment of the centre and the ports has made this a popular location for a city break. Spend some time in the shops and restaurants at the new Dockland, see some of the historic attractions such as the Clifton Suspension Bridge or go on a walking tour to view some of Banksy’s most famous graffiti.

Getting into town: A bus stop is adjacent to the site. Buses take you into the centre of town or Temple Meads. Alternatively take a river ferry from the dockland.

Smaller and prettier than it’s great academic rival Oxford, Cambridge is a beautiful town set on the river Cam. Punt down the river, explore the botanical gardens or walk around the narrow cobbled streets to see the Colleges and museums. A visit to the King’s College chapel is highly recommended and if you are lucky you may get to hear the famous choir.

Getting into town: Both sites have bus stops close by that will take you into town.

The focal point of Canterbury is the Cathedral – the oldest in England. There are many other historic buildings to see such as St Augustine’s Abbey, St Martin’s Church and the Castle ruins. There is also a visitor attraction based on Chaucer’s famous tales. As Canterbury is a small city, it can easily be explored on foot.

Getting into town: Take the bus (20 minutes journey) from the site entrance into Canterbury.

Cardiff has undergone a dramatic transformation over the last 10 years. The magnificent Millennium Stadium now sits alongside the city’s historic buildings such as the Castle. Or for the sci-fi fans amongst you you could visit the Doctor Who Experience where you’ll get to help the Doctor destroy a terrifying new foe!

Getting into town: Cardiff town centre is just a short walk away.Cardiff

When you think of London, campsites don’t immediately spring to mind, but there are a couple within easy reach of the capital. With all that London has to offer, you will never be short of things to do and places to see, including the Olympic Park, the London Eye, you could travel up to the top of the Shard – Europe’s tallest building (if you’re brave enough!), not to mention all the amazing museums and galleries. There really is something for everyone.

Stay at: The Caravan Club now has 2 campsites open all year within easy reach of the capital – Abbey Wood and Crystal Palace. They are both a short train ride away from the centre.

Spend the weekend in Oxford and seek out many famous TV and film locations including the streets around the University Colleges shown every week in Morse and Lewis. If you have time take a trip out to Blenheim Palace – one of this country’s most magnificent stately homes. Or simply sit at one of the pavement cafés or by the river and watch the world go by.

Getting into town: A bus stop is adjacent to the site.

The city’s tourist board says Stratford-upon-Avon isn’t all about Shakespeare, but to be honest it is. The main reason we spend an enjoyable weekend in this city is to see our most famous playwright’s birthplace, resting place, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, eat and drink in many of the Shakespeare themed cafes and to see a performance of one of his plays at the RSC Theatre.

Getting into town: Take a river boat from the campsite.

The Warwick Racecourse Caravan Club Site is a lovely base for a weekend break to this city. If you don’t want to see the racing, you can take the path through the historic Hill Close Victorian Gardens into the centre of town. Warwick Castle is one of the finest medieval castles in England. As it is owned by the same group as the London Dungeon and Madame Tussauds, it is also a great attraction for all members of the family.
